Oh, Spring is finally here! My pink bleeding heart are just beautiful this year...LOVES IT!
My mother-in-law created some amazing crocheted pieces. She made this sweet pink baby blanket for our daughter Julie. I really should give it to Julie, especially now that she is the mother of two little girls, but it's PINK and it's DAISIES!
This Sun Bonnet Girl quilt was made by my maternal grandmother many years ago. It measures 60x76. My mother told me she remembered her mother making it when she was a girl still living at home. Even though it is probably 70 years old the quilt is in remarkably good condition. The background is white, aged in those lovely uneven shades of white we all love in antique/vintage linens. The sweet little sun bonnet girls are dressed in shades of pinks, greens, blues, and yellows. The strips between the blocks are pink.
I adore these gorgeous pillow cases as well, also made by my maternal grandmother. They are white cotton with hand crocheted flowers, leaves, and trim. The flowers are pink and yellow with green leaves and the scalloped edging along the opening is pink. The larger pink and yellow flowers appear to be roses and the smaller flowers are pink, trimmed in white. The basket itself is a delicate white crochet, edged in pink. I wish I had inherited my grandmother's needleworking skill - I'm still mastering plain old knitting!
