Thankful Day 11 - Ladies of the Blog

Joyce, Brookside Cottage, is hosting 30 Days of Giving Thanks.

Today I am thankful for the many wonderful women I have met blogging. You know, a year ago I would have thought it was kinda weird and just a little on the creepy side to make actual friends online! It seemed to me that most stories on the news ended up with a poor, innocent computer novice meeting up with the unabomber! But then my long time friend CeeKay, Thinkin' of Home, urged me to start blogging. At the time she had been blogging for a month or so and was having lots of fun. Don't tell C, but I really just created this blog to appease her! But then the blog bug bit! As soon as I figured it out I knew I would like it, but it wasn't until I began participating in some of the blog-a-thons and challenges that I really started to enjoy blogging - to the great enjoyment of my husband. My dear friend CeeKay now says she would challenge anyone to be more compulsive about creating a post that yours truly! I admit it does bring out the frustrated perfectionist in me! CeeKay's husband says we're all closet competitors! To that, C and I answer... CLOSET??? There's nothing secretive about the competitive nature of the many talented women who create gorgeous blogs. They publish inventive, beautiful, and smart posts day after day.

A lesson one might learn from this blogging experience (and not entirely without value) is that people everywhere, all over the world, are as a rule good, kind, generous, caring, and wonderful!

One lovely lady in blogland sent me two very nice awards this week:

Aren't they pretty? Well, I just love awards! Thank you Sharon for your friendship and prayer and for thinking of me with these two awards! Sharon is Techno Nana at her blog of the same name. Check her out - she has a fun, faith based blog.

I find myself admitting, even if it is a little tongue-in-cheek, that blogging has brought much extra happiness to my life and I am thankful for the many women I have met, without really meeting, whom I now truly call FRIENDS!

AMEN. God really does use the blogging world. I started because life was probably at one of my lowest points spiritually. I felt like God said I needed a place of accountability. Then as i discovered other blogs I got BLESSED, ENCOURAGED and TAUGHT so many things about love and beauty again. Thanks for being part of His work in me.

I started a gardening blog first, but then woke up one morning with the idea and the name for my Christian one. I still don't know what direction it will take, but, like you, I am really enjoying it. I also like getting on my counter and seeing how many people from different places are looking at my blogs. My husband says, "Blog on!" (I am no longer spending lots of time on ebay.) :o)
