It's My Birthday and I'll Cry If I Want Too!

Yes, friends, it's my birthday today and I have not met my goal to be ready for Christmas! I know - I'm trying to move beyond it. Don't you think it is just IN women to set expectations for ourselves - usually a bit too high? Then it's kind of a let down when it doesn't happen. Well, ladies, meet the Queen of Too High Expectations! I have always been a perfectionist. As a kid, no paper was written well enough for me. As a parent, if the paper is due in a month, why let it go beyond a day or two? As a homemaker, doesn't everything just HAVE to be perfect? Christmas - well, of course it's got to be a DREAM! Yep, that's me - as all of my family and friends will gladly tell you - (no laughing, CeeKay). However, I am making efforts to change this about myself. Setting impossible expectations for oneself really does set you up for unhappiness and discontent. I know this, but to implement new tricks to an O-L-D dog is easier said than done! I am determined that this year, my 56th, will be a more relaxed year. Life is just too short to worry about anything unnecessarily. Life really can be hard enough sometimes without creating things to be displeased about!

So, ladies, with this new leaf turned, I am off to spend my birthday with my husband - a day of shopping, movie, and dinner. And guess what??? MY HOUSE IS A MESS!!!

(And I'm happy anyway!)

WOO HOO---HAPPY BIRTHDAY! We have a daughter who was an extreme over achiever through high school. It has it's benefits. I'm no where near that kind of thinking. I so much go with the flow and more towards the lazy side. We NEED people like you--we all blend together. You may need to chill, I know there are times I need to step it up, we all have our ways. PARTAY!!!! And know you are loved!

Happy birthday Kathy!

Don't worry about the house being a mess. Once it's spotless it'll be a mess two seconds later. Have fun, enjoy your birthday and know that God loves you even with a messy house. It's the house of the heart He's concerned with.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Don't worry about not getting everything done to perfection. Nobody's perfect you know. I turned 56 once, a long time ago. Enjoy each year. The time flies by so fast.
Hugs,

Kathy,I see I am a few days late to wish you a very Happy Birthday! I know what you mean about the perfectionism~it is a problem but we shall overcome, right?

I hope your enjoyed your day with your husband and saw a great movie. I love movies but I'm a picky. It has to be fun or uplifting~nothing violent or depressing. Have a great new year.
