Trim The Tree Thursday Week #3

Trim The Tree Thursday is hosted by Brett at Southern Hostess. It's fun to see so many beautiful and creative women at work! Visit Brett's blog to see a list of the wonderful blogs participating in TTTT!

The main tree in our house is in the family room. The picture was a little off angle - it really is standing straight and tall! This tree is decorated with glass silver glittered pine cones in two sizes, round clear glass and silver ornaments in two sizes, and in three shades of pink and burgundy round glass ornaments. The star on top is glittered silver. The skirt under the tree is actually a burgundy velvet quilted throw my daughter gave me for my birthday one year. I use it for my Christmas tree skirt, then I cover with it to stay toasty warm all winter!

The second tree in the family room is a 3 1/2 foot lighted tree, but I don't use ornaments. It seems like overkill with another larger tree in the room.

Under the little pine is a happy little snowman, courtesy of my friend CeeKay last year. He wishes us peace, as I'm sure we all wish for in the new year.

My parents had the antique chair refinished and caned for me one Christmas. It sits on the hearth year round, but at Christmastime it sports three of my favorite holiday books, Skipping Christmas by John Grisham, The Christmas Box Miracle and Christmas Shoes both by Richard Paul Evans.

A few other holiday decorations around the family room...

Hi Kathy,
I have been knee deep in decorating for about two days and I just came in to sit down and I loved looking at your blog with everything so beautifully done and Somewhere Over the Rainbow playing. It was perfect. Thank you. Your decor looks so pretty and peaceful...exactly what I was needing as I wondered how in heaven's name I have accumulated so much stuff!

I read your blog a lot and should comment more. If you ever go to my blog just click on my photo on the sidebar to toggle between my design and personal blogs.

OK, now I have enough energy to forge ahead to the next room. I'll try to catch up with your house in the next few days. Sorry so long winded...just stalling the inevitable~back to work!

I LOVE those silver bells with the snowflake patterns on them. And I'm so thankful for your post---I saw the books under the lamp---reminded me I haven't pulled out all my Christmas Story Books. I used to volunteer in the girls school library and the librarian helped me start a wonderful collection of books for Grandma days that might come. I am especially moved by beautiful illustrations. I have a HUGE stack of Christmas books. Beautiful tree Kathy!

Everything is so beautiful...I would like my snowman cup with hot chocolate, marshmellow and chocolate chips as we watch movies in the light of the trees.

Everything is so pretty. It's hard to pick a favorite but I'm going with the pink wreath! Love it!

It looks like you had a lot of fun trimming the tree or should I say trees? Even if one isn't decorated it still had to be put up...how wonderful to have two in one room.

I love all your decorations but I love the angel blowing the kiss! I've always wanted a theme tree like your main tree. Mine is a hodge podge of decorations but I love it too.

Hi Kathy! Everything look so wonderful & festive. I'm now ankle deep in my decorating as I'm almost done :0). We still have the outside to get to, but hopefully by this weekend that will be done too.
Your tree looks so big! Very pretty!

Kathy,
You are so far ahead of me that I'd be jealous if you weren't so nice. Your decorated tree is beautiful. You can tell that you took great care in placing each ornament on the tree. Everything is lovely. Your home has a very festive aura.

You are so far ahead of me with decorating. I was so in the mood about 2 weeks ago but all the Thanksgiving company knocked the wind out of my sails. I did get some cleaning done today and hope to start at it hard and heavy tomorrow. You've inspired me!

Your home is so beautiful Kathy, I really must get busy, I am so far behind. I will have to leave stuff up until February to make up for lost time :)
