Mix and Match Friday

Just had to add this picture...Happy Arbor Day!
Love a tree - plant a tree! Make the world a better place!
(My son accuses me of making my granddaughter a
"tree hugger" - that's ok with me!)

This week I have a hodge podge of pictures to show for Kelli's Show & Tell Friday. If you haven't been there yet, check out her great blog page at There's No Place Like Home, http://kellishouse.blogspot.com. I'm off to see who else is up at 3:00 a.m. checking out blogs!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Some pretty vintage linens I recently found...such dainty work!

This sweet little ceramic plaque hangs in one of our bathrooms.

The wreath which hangs on our bedroom door.

These are some of the things hanging in our bedroom -
sorry, some of them are a bit off center!

This sweet little replica of Abraham Lincoln's birthplace was my
husband's childhood copper cast bank.

These sweet vintage wooden plaques are 9x12 inches. They were made and purchased in The Cascades in Jackson Michigan, probably in the '40's or '50's. One is "The Goose Girl" and the other is "Off To Work We Go". I just love them and plan to hang them in my guest room.

This was the high chair I used for my two children, only then it was a combination of natural wood and painted black - very colonial looking. When our first granddaughter was expected the high chair became a family project. My son and I stripped it, he and his dad did the sanding, and I did the staining and finishing. Our second granddaughter is almost ready to use it next!

30 Days 30 Photos - Days 23, 24, 25

Most of these pics were taken this week in my garden. Thankfully, Spring is finally here in our part of the country. As I type, I am enjoying the sounds of an early Spring thunderstorm!

Glorious Spring!

It's so special to put the grandkids in the highchair their parents used, isn't it? I have the one my two daughters used and now my grandson uses it, as did his two cousins.

I love admiring the wonderful work that women used to do for their linens. Thanks for sharing.

We still use the wooden high chair that our children used. Guess they would not be approved for safety these days, but they work just fine. How did our children ever survive???

Thanks so much for stopping by today for a visit - come back any time!

What wonderful treasures you shared today. And your flowers are gorgeous - I wish I knew how to do that collage effect!

I had an old wooden high chair for my two kids that I got at a garage sale, but the tray broke in two with the second one - never tried to replace it, but probably should have. It was probably vintage!

Hi Kathy,

I think we're related or something. First, I love this week's S&T - especially the old prints - the first two look like models for my Dresden Figurines, don't they? I looked through your recipes and was so glad to see that you have the Peanut Butter Bars - those were my Mom's signature cookies - I feel like making some now! :) I'm so glad that we have "run" into one another here. You're a gem!

Such beautiful, vinatge linens, In tiday's "throw-away" society I doubt our grandchildren will ever know that women used to do such fancy work unless we make them aware. It's quicly becoming a lost art! Thanks for sharing.

Hello, I loved your show & tell. The flowers collage was beautiful.
We're at about the same stage in life, I guess. My hubby is planning for retirement in a year or two. We've been married 41 years.

What beautiful things. I love the vintage lines especially.

I will come back to visit you and see your decorating and your projects. I'm just now getting excited about decorating.

My name too, is just the short version. My mom named me Kathi, stating that this is what everyone will call me, so why not name me just that. I'm glad she did.

She also told me I must learn to use scissors with my right hand, even though I am left. She was quite practical. She said that when I grew up I'd forever be needing to buy or use left-hand scissors, so why not learn right handed on that one thing. I'm glad.

Happy Saturday, and your sweet grand-daughter is so cute hugging the tree.
