Last week I posted the story behind the chaotic redecorating of our family room, after giving my husband a retirement gift of a large screen TV. You can read about the trials and tribulations that seemingly innocent and heartfelt gift created here! The pictures below are of the nearly finished product. Keep in mind the new sofa and chairs will not be here for at least another month, I haven't hung all the pictures yet, and some of the lamps and tables will change.
The culprit!

Hi, I really enjoyed visitng your blog. Nice job on the redecorating to accomodate the new TV. : )
The room is coming along beautifully. There are so many special little touches and the autumn decorations in the room look very festive.
Great job!
Love this whole area. First gorgeous wall color, secondly I LOVE the dark chest with the rose etching! [gorgeous] and the two photos aligned ---simplicity at its finest. And the crystal apothecary type jars in your last photo. Beautiful, warm and inviting ---all of it.
My Show n Tell this week is entitled 'BEE CAREFUL'....stop by if you can find time. And, have a glorious weekend.
Your room is beautiful. You have it fixed up so pretty. I would feel right at home there. Take care.
Wonderful. I love the color--I'm thinking the true color is shown in the picture with the two adorable kids. Beautiful. I want a red wall SO BADLY---and have heard the same horror stories from friends who went through up to 7 shades trying to get the right color. I wonder if it's just certain colors or anything as you go darker. Some day I'll have my red---funny thing is I've never really thought of myself as a red person. Your raspberry is beautiful.
It all looks so very lovely.

Wow! Your home is beautiful. We are getting a new TV for Chrismas that will require some sprucing up in our family room.
Thanks for sharing

It's coming together beautifully, Kathy. I know you can't wait for the new furniture.

Great re-do for the new TV...

I loved seeing your decor...it looks so beautifully arranged and accessorized.
Thanks for stopping by and for your lovely comment.
The raspberry looks fabulous against the white! It's a great color contrast. It all looks quite cozy and I'll bet you are enjoying it immensely!
I love the wall color you used! That room looks like a cozy place to hang out! You have lots of beautiful little touches, love the plates!

Your family room looks so warm and inviting. We too, just got a flat screen and had to get one to fit in our entertainment center. I agree with what everyone else said too. : )
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
Kathy,
I love the room color --- so homey, and yet so rich!!! I love just about any shade of red... so, anything remotely red has me wooed! :)
Oh what fun! I can tell that you are having such a great time pulling this room together. It is looking very cozy and inviting. I am looking forward to seeing your new sofas. Great job!
Everything is beautiful. I love the wall color. Boy lighting does make a big difference. I've noticed it even in buying clothes. Sometimes after you get them home they look entirely different in a different light.

i love the new tv stand and book cases! thanks for checking out my blog earlier. take care!
Kathy, I love what you did! I wonder what people do with those large tv's. we have an old tv. And It is inside an nice American Drew Armoir I saved precious $$$ for to purchase. In other words, I am not getting rid of it.
Since the TV is so old, and not very big, (the one previously in the spot just died.) we have almost decided to get a smaller wide screen TV. DH promices we will be able to see it from a cross the room. LOL!
You have done a beautiful job!
I really enjoyed seeing your fall decorations. I have not decorated by seasons until this year so my stash is still scarce.
I would love to add some pretty pumpkins to my livingroom and kitchen this year.
The wreath that you had featured in your last post is so cute with the little scarecrow.
Enjoy your weekend.
I am spending a little time catching up on blogland. We are getting ready for my in-laws' estate sale next Saturday and it is really hectic. I must say that your husband certainly deserves a gift after giving of himself to students for 40 years. You can tell that there is a lot of "you" in the room. Everything is arranged nicely and there is so much attention to detail. Beautiful!
Hugs,
Sweetie
Beautiful! :) I love your Fall Decorations!
Beautifully decorated room! I know all too well about that snowball effect...do one thing in a room and the projects grow from there! LOL! Your fall decor is so pretty too! Everything is so cozy and welcoming! ~Rhonda :)
Love your family room! It's so cozy! PS my honey and I just got that TV stand for our living room TV. We love it!
Your room looks so cozy - a perfect place to snuggle with someone you love and watch a movie on that new television!
Thanks for stopping by my blog so I could come and find yours.

Men and their TV's...I guess after a long day at work who can blame them. Your family room looks so toasty and inviting. Great color choices. Are the walls burnt orange or red? I can't tell but its gorgeous anyway.
Oh, Sunday we had a guest speaker and he talked on your passage about Faith, the mustard seed, and the mountain. While his was good I liked your interpretation better. So many of our trials are huge mountains that need to be moved, but sometimes God chooses to move us instead of the mountain.
Your letter J stayed with me all week and I was blessed as a result.
XO Cori G.
What a lovely home....and I adore those apothecary type jars..woohoo.
